Kristen copies Diana on set with movie’s William and Harry
THE image of the blonde woman, in blue blazer and baseball cap, keeping a protective eye on her two sons will bring back memories for many.
This is Kristen Stewart who plays Princess Diana in a new movie, pictured on set with the young actors playing Princes William and Harry for the first time.
American actress Miss Stewart, 30, was seen getting out of a Porsche alongside the two boys as production continued on the biopic, titled Spencer.
Her costume – a blazer over light jeans with a baseball cap – was strikingly reminiscent of the casual clothing Diana loved to wear during her off-duty moments in the early 1990s.
The two younger actors also echoed William and Harry’s look from the time, with the younger of the duo sporting Harry’s red hair and a brightly coloured padded jacket as he climbed out of the car on the set in London.
Miss Stewart has previously been seen filming at Old Hunstanton Beach in Norfolk, where Diana would often walk during stays on the Queen’s estate at Sandringham. On that occasion she was sporting Diana’s layered blonde bob as she shot scenes alongside two-time Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins.
Spencer will not cover Diana’s death in Paris in August 1997, but will instead focus on the events of Christmas weekend in Sandringham in 1991 which marked the moment she decided that her marriage to Prince Charles was over. It will also focus on the relationship with William and Harry.
Miss Stewart said: ‘The movie takes place over three days, and it’s this really poetic internal imagining of what that might have felt like rather than giving new information. We sort of don’t have a mark to hit. We just also love her.’
Poldark actor Jack Farthing will play Prince Charles, with Timothy Spall and Sean Harris also in the cast.
The film, which is directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larrain, was written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, with Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood composing the score.
Filming has also been taking place in Germany and an autumn launch is expected, ahead of the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death in 2022.
