BRIDES & GROOMS The Wedding Coach, Netflix

IN THIS anti-Bridezillas reality show, U.S. comedian Jamie Lee (pictured with Savannah and Cesar) helps couples to diffuse wedding drama and focus on what really matters. ‘Wedding perfection is unattainable,’ observes Lee, who aims to treat prenuptial stress as if it were a medical condition.

THE WAVE is the first contender in this new series. It’s an astonishing, flowing build in the Borders that makes the most of its views, and judge Anna Campbell-Jones finds much to like. (In Scotland: Freeview 9, Freesat 106, Sky 115, Virgin 108. Outside Scotland: Freesat 174, Sky 457, Virgin 162)

DOCTORS & NURSES Grey’s Anatomy, 9pm, Sky Witness

LAST week’s crossover with firefighter spin-off Station 19 continues with a season-opening double bill from the venerable U.S. soap. It’s seismic stuff, not so much because of the fallout from last week’s fire, but more because of who’s back — it’s McDreamy himself (Patrick Dempsey).

RURAL LIFE Matt Baker: Our Farm In The Dales, 9pm, More4

WHEN Matt’s mum was knocked over by sheep, he and his family moved back to the farm to help to run it, and this four-part series is the result. In part two, Matt brings in an old family friend to help with his new road project, and there’s delight when the puppies are born.

U.S. SITCOM The Grinder, 9pm, Fox

ROB LOWE stars as Dean, an actor who finishes work as a maverick TV lawyer, then moves in with his brother — an actual lawyer — and thinks he’d like to try this courtroom thing for real. Lowe (pictured) has a lot of fun as the egomaniac Dean, bouncing off Fred Savage as his straight man sibling, Stewart.

FREEVIEW MOVIE Stiff Upper Lips, 9.05pm, Talking Pictures TV

A LIVELY pastiche of the period drama (think Merchant Ivory), full of national treasure stars who wouldn’t be out of place in the real thing, including Peter Ustinov and Prunella Scales.

DEBUT PLAY Lights Up: Sitting, 10.30pm, BBC4

PEOPLE sit for portraits and unload onto the artist in this TV version of Katherine Parkinson’s well-weaved debut play, which hits a nice mix of humour and poignancy. Parkinson (pictured) performs in it here, as ex-punk single mum Mary — a name that could well be an EastEnders reference.
