INDIAN OCEAN OFFER

EMIRATES is offering special ‘companion’ fares to the Seychelles, Mauritius and the Maldives, flying via Dubai. Prices departing from Heathrow are from £529pp return and bookings must be made for more than two passengers by October 16 for travel up to June 30, 2022 (emirates.com).

EDINBURGH ESCAPES

RYANAIR is launching new flights from the capital to Paris Beauvais, Madrid and Palermo next month. For a treat in the Sicilian city, check in to Rocco Forte’s newest hotel, Villa Igiea, a restored palazzo with dazzling interiors by Olga Polizzi. MALTA LINK

AIR Malta will start a service between Gatwick and Malta on December 11, flying three times a week with fares from £71. The island now has five Michelin-starred restaurant­s, including ION: The Harbour on the roof of the Iniala Harbour House hotel, which has suites from £203, room only (airmalta.com, inialamalt­a.com).

BA BACK IN THE AIR

BRITISH Airways is bringing back its popular A380 planes for flights to Dubai, Miami and Los Angeles as part of a major ramping up of its schedules. The airline plans to operate 56 services a week to New York by December and there will also be an increase in flights to Barbados, Antigua, Mauritius and the Maldives (ba.com).

OMAN OPENS

OMAN Air has resumed flights between Heathrow and Muscat. The country is now open to fully vaccinated travellers with no quarantine restrictio­ns. The Chedi is a contempora­ry beach hotel that is wellplaced for exploring. Doubles from £432, B&B (omanair.com, ghmhotels.com).

YORKSHIRE BOOST

DONCASTER Sheffield Airport is set to become a major base for Wizz Air following a deal that will see more than 1.5million seats on offer next summer. Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Greece will be the main destinatio­ns, while flights are available this winter to Cyprus and the Canary Islands (flydsa.com, wizzair.com).
