WHAT TO WEAR THIS WEEKEND
CHEERFUL KNITS
COMFORTING MOOD-BOOSTER
FUN knitwear didn’t seem appropriate or necessary this time last year, when I was holed up at home with two unappreciative children. Now, it feels mandatory. I have a cupboard full of beige, black and grey.
But this season, knits have had a makeover and with this brilliantly bonkers two-piece from Zara, the children have gone from unappreciative to embarrassed. Fabulous!
COLOUR BLOCK CO-ORDINATES
THE long-line cardigan and matching jersey trousers I’m wearing are dressed-down peacocking. What could be more perfect? Designers, it appears, were well aware of what we would be craving.
If you have £1,000 to spare, then you could pick up a patchwork jacquard knit jumper from Stella McCartney’s latest collaboration with artist Ed Curtis.
Slightly more affordable is Chinti & Parker’s new range with Vogue’s former fashion director, Lucinda Chambers.
In partnership with her Collagerie label, the brand has created a colour-block knitwear collection to die for (see below).
EASE YOUR WAY IN WITH A JUMPER
IF MATCHING co-ords or a maxi dress are too much for you, why not try a full skirt, or play it safe with a practical highneck jumper such as George at Asda’s pink and orange graphic print — and it’s only £18!
You won’t regret investing in an eye-catching piece of knitwear that will see you through this winter and beyond.
An easy way to take on the trend is to add an eye-catching scarf
Striped knitwear took centre stage on the autumn/ winter catwalks, but you can snap up similar styles on the High Street
Don’t be afraid to go for a co-ord — according to Lyst, sales are up by 33 per cent this year
Dress it up with heels and statement jewellery
