Livi can’t afford to rest on their laurels

- By GEORGE GRANT

ODIN BAILEY admits Livingston can’t afford to rest on their laurels following their recent mini revival as they face a Ross County side fighting for their lives. Both teams have struggled since the start of the Premiership campaign, with the Highlanders yet to record a win under manager Malky Mackay. Livi bounced back from some sluggish early form with a shock 3-0 victory over St Johnstone in Perth last weekend — but as impressive as that result was, attacking midfielder Bailey says it would be wrong for David Martindale’s side to think they have turned a corner. And he is targeting a crucial win in Dingwall today that would send the West Lothian club seven points clear of a County side currently propping up the table. The on-loan Birmingham City forward, who struck a superb opener in Perth last Saturday, said: ‘It’s everything you strive for going into each game: first of all getting the three points and then getting on the scoresheet is a good thing. ‘If I can make that a common thing here, then that would be great. ‘We can’t just sit back and think, “What a good result”, we have to do it week in, week out.’ The 21-year-old Englishman believes he is thriving under Martindale’s stewardship. He added: ‘I have enjoyed it here. The lads and staff have made me feel welcome and have helped me get up to speed with how the team plays, what my individual jobs are and what the manager expects of me. ‘I feel like I have settled in quite well. It’s time for me and the team to kick on now.’
