UNITED FLIGHTS
TRANSATLANTIC competitors British Airways and Virgin Atlantic will celebrate the restart of travel to the U.S. with a dual take-off from Heathrow at 8.30am on Monday. Both carriers will fly A350 aircraft to New York JFK, the first flights to the Big Apple in almost 20 months (ba.com, virginatlantic.com).
DELTA BOOMS
ATLANTA-BASED carrier Delta is expecting many of its international flights to be ‘100 per cent full’ on Monday. Bookings are up 450 per cent with high passenger volume expected in the coming weeks. In response, the airline is increasing its services from Heathrow to Boston, Detroit and New York (delta.com).
SUMMER SPIKE
NOVEMBER is the cheapest month for flights to the U.S., according to travel search engine Skyscanner. Prices next August are more than 50 per cent higher. For the best protection should restrictions return, book a package or fly with a UK-based airline with a flexible booking policy (skyscanner.net).
HOUSTON CALLING
SINGAPORE Airlines will commence flights from Manchester to Houston, Texas, on December 1 flying three times a week. Fares are from £479 return for travel up to February 28, 2022, if you book by December 7 (singaporeair.com).
FRENCH CONNECTION
WANT to fly to the U.S. in style? La Compagnie is a boutique French carrier that offers daily all-business-class flights from Paris Orly to Newark. BOSTON LINK
UNITED Airlines is increasing its connections from Heathrow, including a new direct flight to Boston from March 2022, plus additional services to Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco (united.com).
AIRPORT FUN
READY to party? Opened in 1962, the TWA Hotel at New York’s JFK airport has a playful retro theme that includes a museum with vintage crew uniforms and memorabilia. HIGH AND DRY
AMERICAN AIRLINES has a ban on alcohol sales to economy passengers until January 18, 2022. The restrictions were introduced following incidents involving unruly passengers. Texas-based carrier Southwest has the same policy (aa.com, southwest.com).
