HOW THEY RATED

- By CALUM CROWE

SCOTLAND

STUART HOGG His dialogue with referee Poite was far more constructive than that of

7 Aussie skipper Hooper. Intelligent.

DARCY GRAHAM Tried to inject some pace into the attack but the Wallabies kept him fairly

6.5 well shackled. Still carried well.

CHRIS HARRIS Showed real leadership in his defensive work. Got through 11 tackles

7 in a typically industrious shift.

SAM JOHNSON Hit a couple of great lines and helped link the attack. Also tackled well.

7 Pretty much back to his very best.

DUHAN VAN DER MERWE Tried to batter and bludgeon his way through the Wallabies defence

7 but space was fairly limited.

FINN RUSSELL

Nerves of steel to kick the late penalty which ended up winning the game.

7.5 Also flashes of brilliant footwork.

ALI PRICE Still looks short of his best but another run-out will do him good ahead

6.5 of the Springboks next weekend.

PIERRE SCHOEMAN Solid work at the set-piece and also in the loose. Helped create the

7.5 space which led to Watson’s try.

GEORGE TURNER Didn’t have a chance to make any sort of impact before going off

5 injured after just 12 minutes.

ZANDER FAGERSON Stupidly got involved in the melee after Hooper’s disallowed try. Lucky

6.5 not to be shown a yellow card.

SAM SKINNER

Still not quite sure whether he’s more comfortable at lock or in the

6.5 back row. Will have better days.

GRANT GILCHRIST

Played a key role in the lineout maul which led to the creation of the

7 opening try. Reliable as ever.

JAMIE RITCHIE

Pumped up right from the start. Also made himself available as a solid

7 — if surprising — lineout option.

MATT FAGERSON

Costly knock-on when the try-line beckoned early in second half.

6.5 But still put in a really good shift.

HAMISH WATSON

Scored the opening try and was also Scotland’s top tackler with 14. 8 Yet another magnificent display.
