ROMANCE is an important part of this two-part Dalgliesh story from 2004. And the mystery? It’s a classic whodunit that unfolds at a museum where an exhibit seems to have inspired murder. Martin Shaw stars as P.D. James’s tortured sleuth.

IN 2014, a vibrant collection of paintings from the last years of Henri Matisse were brought together for an exhibition at the Tate Modern; it then moved to New York’s Museum of Modern Art. This new documentar­y is an absorbing tour of the work and its history.

ROBERT MITCHUM stars as the American soldier who is asked to defend a fellow U.S. serviceman who is accused of murdering a British officer in India. He’s not so interested in playing politics, more on getting to the truth.

COMEDY LEGEND The Many Faces Of Les Dawson, 9.30pm, BBC4

JOHN CLEESE, Robert Webb, Russell Kane and Dawson’s widow, Tracy, pay tribute to the great comedian in this enjoyable reflection on his career. There are so many great clips of Dawson, from his deliberate­ly dreadful piano playing to Cissie and Ada, his double act with Roy Barracloug­h.

PANEL GAME Question Team, 10pm, Dave

LOU SANDERS is one of the contenders tonight, and treats the round in which she sets the questions as if it were a task on Taskmaster — a show she won in 2019. The offbeat comedian’s subject is world records, and she has made short films of her attempting to break niche examples.

JENA MALONE and Pablo Schreiber (pictured) star as two people on the American breadline; despite being on the verge of destitutio­n, they hold themselves with dignity.
