PC charged with 29 sex offences
Protection officer accused of decade of attacks
‘Messaged on dating app’
A SCOTLAND Yard protection officer accused of a string of sex offences has been charged with attacking another four women.
PC David Carrick is now accused of a total of 29 crimes against eight women between 2009 and 2020, after details emerged yesterday of nine further allegations including six counts of rape.
The 47-year-old first appeared in court in October last year charged with the rape of a woman he was said to have messaged on dating app Tinder and then met in person at a pub in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
The woman claimed that during their date Carrick boasted of protecting the Prime Minister before later raping her at a hotel where he booked a room in September 2020, the court had heard.
In November last year three more alleged victims came forward and Carrick was charged with 13 additional offences, including three counts of rape.
And it emerged yesterday he has been charged with a further six counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, one of assault by penetration and one of coercive and controlling behaviour. The new charges relate to four women and are alleged to have taken place between 2009 and 2018.
The officer, from Stevenage, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow to face the latest charges. He appeared at St Albans Crown Court last month, where it was claimed he had raped one woman he met on Tinder, falsely imprisoned another in a cupboard under the stairs, and sexually assaulted three of the complainants by urinating on them.
He denied all charges, and is due to appear at the same court on January 28 for a mention hearing, with a provisional trial date in April.
The charges in full are 13 counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault, three counts of assault by penetration, three counts of coercive and controlling behaviour, two counts of false imprisonment, one count of attempted rape, one count of attempted sexual assault by penetration and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.
Peter Burt, senior district crown prosecutor for CPS Thames and Chiltern, said: ‘Following an ongoing investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary, with continued support from the CPS, we have now charged David Carrick with a total of 29 alleged offences against eight women.
‘We remind all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has a right to a fair trial.’
Mr Burt added: ‘It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.’
