English bids on cards for Rangers star Aribo

- By MARK WILSON

RANGERS are braced to receive offers for Joe Aribo as English Premier League interest in the midfielder accelerates. Aribo is entering the final 12 months of his Ibrox contract with no sign of an extension being agreed. The Europa League final goalscorer is a long-term target for Crystal Palace, while newly-promoted sides Fulham and Nottingham Forest are also thought to be keen. Rangers signed Aribo for a compensation fee of around £300,000 after his Charlton contract expired in 2019. The 25-year-old Nigeria international has proven to be an immensely valuable signing, helping the club win the 2020/21 Premiership title and last month’s Scottish Cup final. Aribo played an incredible 70 games for club and country last season, more than any other player in world football. But it now looks as though his career is set to continue away from Glasgow as Rangers await bids that will represent a sizeable profit on their original outlay. Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are also in their last year of their existing deals, creating uncertainty around their futures. However, reports of a £7million bid from Seville for Morelos have been denied. Meanwhile, Rangers are set to sign teenage striker Zak Lovelace from Millwall — and are continuing their pursuit of Croatian forward Antonio Colak. Lovelace (pictured) became Millwall’s second youngest-ever debutant last December when, aged 15 years and 11 months, he came off the bench in a 1-0 win over Coventry City. He went on to make another four appearances for the English Championship club last season, having been a consistent scorer at youth level. A number of English Premier League and overseas sides were understood to be interested in Lovelace but the 16-year-old has opted to head for Ibrox. Rangers will pay Millwall a cross-border compensation fee, with Lovelace expected to join their B team set-up. Rangers are in the market for a first-team striker, with PAOK Salonika forward Colak a target. Reports in Greece have claimed a bid of around £1.5m has already been turned down but Rangers are expected to return to the table.
