WHAT TO WEAR THIS WEEKEND
By Dinah van Tulleken
SUNSHINE YELLOW
YOU may find it hard to believe from this image, but I am something of a chromophobe: I am terrified of wearing colour. This season I have decided to get over it with some immersion therapy. That’s right, I’m going head-totoe in this season’s hottest hue: striking yellow.
FAR FROM SUBTLE
THE catwalks told me to do it. It’s not like there was merely a hint of this colour, a handbag here, a shoe there. No, the runways were drenched in it. The biggest names in the business, from Moschino to Max Mara, sent models down the runway in pieces that looked like they were made of sunshine. I have followed their lead with a loud linen suit from Mint Velvet.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
YOU may not want to wear it top to bottom, but it does make styling easy. If a co-ord, such as the one I’m wearing here, is too intimidating, start with a dress — I love the simplicity of the Mango design, below. Or try a swimsuit like the
Melissa Odabash one-piece in our shapewear line-up (on pages 36-7), which is an easy
way to introduce the colour to your wardrobe.
YEAR-ROUND CHEER
IF YOU would prefer a more gentle exposure, then dip your toe in with an accessory.
I dare you to do it with this season’s must-have bucket hat, but if you want a safer option, try the panelled chain-handle bag from Charles Keith, below. Guaranteed to cheer you up all year round.

If a solid colour is too bright, try a stripe or print
