Queen: Kate is thrilled by all your support

- By Rebecca English and Jack Hardy

THE Queen yesterday revealed that the Princess of Wales is ‘thrilled’ by all the support she has received since announcing that she is having treatment for cancer.

She made the comment while touring Shrewsbury Farmers Market, where 2,000 well-wishers came to see her.

After two girls gave her hand-drawn get Well Soon cards for the princess, Camilla said: ‘i know that Catherine is thrilled by all the kind wishes and support.’

She promised Lois, six, and Harriet, ten: ‘i’ll take them carefully and will make sure she knows they’re coming.’ Afterwards, Harriet said: ‘We heard the news and i wanted to hold the poster up to show my love to Kate.’

Their mother Lucy Waterston, said: ‘She said she certainly will send her love.’ The messages come after the princess revealed in a personal video message last week that she is receiving the ‘early stages’ of preventative chemotherapy. Another member of the crowd asked Queen Camilla to pass on her best wishes to the King who is also being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer.

Camilla, dressed in a brown leopard print blouse by Fiona Clare, a brown skirt and coat by Anna Valentine and two jaunty brooches — one of her own, a bumble bee, and one belonging to Queen Elizabeth which appeared to be a fly — thanked a woman who said she was ‘thinking of her’.

She was also presented with a rose by Abi Creighton, 19, who has Down’s Syndrome. The Queen told her she would ‘treasure it’.

Abi’s mother said: ‘She’s a very big fan, she takes a photograph of the Queen to bed every night. She loves her.’
