EACH MONTH WE RECOMMEND THE MOST EXCITING ATTRACTIONS TO VISIT AROUND THE COUNTRY, BOTH FOR THE FAMILY AND YOURSELF... 1 Attraction of the month The Glory of Glamis Many things have been said and written about this ancient Scottish castle over the centuries. From romantic tales of ghosts and secret chambers, to the reminiscences of the World War One soldiers who were nursed back to health within the walls, Glamis has a fascinating history. The ancestral seat of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne since 1372, Glamis Castle has a place in the nation’s psyche. This quintessential Scottish castle has seen everything from the burning for witchcraft of the sixth Lady Glamis by King James V, to the visit of his daughter, Mary Queen of Scots, and several of her descendents, up to and including the present Queen. The late Queen Mother was the youngest daughter of the 14th Earl, and Her Majesty’s sister, Princess Margaret, was born in the castle. To find out more, why not visit this summer?

A who’s who of celebrities and royalty flocked to travel on the magnificent liner, built 50 years ago this September, and her sister Clyde built Cunard liners including Queen Mary and Lusitania. Immerse yourself in the golden era of ocean liners and the luxurious life onboard. See the fabulous outfits worn by those who travelled on these liners and the role these vessels played in war time. Then pour over the fabulous signatures and personal messages left by the rich and famous in the officer’s ward room.
