Trigony House Hotel epitomises what good Scottish hospitality is all about. We arrived early and were welcomed into the lounge for coffee and shortbread while they finished getting our room ready. Nothing appeared to be too much effort and Rolo felt instantly at home, somehow sensing that dogs were very welcome.

We were shown to the garden room which was spacious and comfortable. After a quick change we headed to nearby Drumlanrig Castle. Although it was closed for winter, we enjoyed exploring the network of bike tracks.

After our afternoon biking we returned to the hotel to relax and shower before dinner. There was an area for washing your dog where shampoo, warm water and towels were all provided.

We chose to have dinner in the bar where Rolo could join us. The only area you couldn’t take your dog was the dining room. Dinner was excellent with a great choice, of locally sourced food cooked to order. We couldn’t resist the home-made puddings.

After a peaceful sleep, breakfast lived up to its reputation with a great selection of cereals, organic yogurt, fruit juice and fruit. The full cooked breakfast was fantastic and set us up for the rest of the day.

After breakfast we headed for a spa, located in the garden, one of their range of treatments. They are also planning to add a hot tub.

If you’re looking for a relaxing break with your dog, Trigony House is hard to beat. The informal, friendly service, in tranquil tasteful surroundings has everything for you and your dog.
