Communities Along The Carron Association (CATCA)
Over 3,000 community volunteer hours have been engaged to help regenerate the local area. The group has raised over £1million in funding since 2010, and has been featured as an example of best practice in community engagement procedures by the Scottish Government. With the help of Climate Challenge Funding and securing a partnership with Sustrans, the group has held over 250 cycling promotion events with local schools. Additionally, CATCA has encouraged a further 200 people to travel to work sustainably, and has independently developed a thriving community garden driven by volunteers. Over the past two years, CATCA has aided the delivery of extra path networks in the River Carron area, leading to a 700 per cent increase in the area’s use.
