GREAT GARDENS TO VISIT THIS MONTH

Kilmacolm Plant Sale, Outside Kilmacolm Library The end of season plant sale will be held at the Cross outside the Library and Cargill Centre. Open 9 September 10am-12pm Kilbryde Castle, Dunblane The gardens cover some twelve acres and are situated above the Ardoch Burn and below the castle. The gardens are split into three parts: formal, woodland and wild. Natural planting is found in the woodland garden. There are glorious spring bulbs and autumn colour provided by clematis and acers. There will be some new plantings for additional late summer/autumn colour for 2017. Open 17 September 2-5pm Tarland Community Garden, Aboyne Tarland Community Gardens provides an inclusive and accessible community growing space for local residents. It has indoor (polytunnel) and outdoor raised beds for rent plus communal planting areas including a soft fruit cage, fruit trees, and a herb garden. The community bee group also manages a hive at the site. It is a place for members to grow produce, learn, share and have fun. Open 23 September 12-4pm Glen House, Innerleith­en Surroundin­g the Scots Baronial mansion, Glen House gardens are laid out on a series of shallow terraces overhangin­g the glen, which offers one of the loveliest ‘designed landscapes’ in the Borders. The garden expands from the formal courtyard through a yew colonnade, and contains a fine range of trees, borders and pool garden with pergola, all arranged within the curve of slopes sheltering the house. Open 24 September 11am-4pm
