St Leonards

-

St Leonards is a forwardthinking, co-educational boarding and day school, which offers an outstanding education from five to 18 years.

Thanks to an ambitious £3m refurbishment programme, boarders live in stylish comfort in a country house setting, where bedrooms have sea views beyond the playing fields. The next phase of transforming the boys’ boarding house, Ollerenshaw, started in summer 2018. When complete, boarders will benefit from smart, yet homely communal areas, designed to create a social heart of the house. Full, flexi and weekly boarding at St Leonards is available from age 11.

St Leonards Junior School is the first school in Scotland to be accredited to teach the inspiring International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, which encourages boys and girls to develop a love of learning. According to parents, ‘children are excited to go to school and return home brimming with ideas’.

With St Andrews’ East Sands beach just a two-minute walk from the school grounds, and seven links golf courses on the doorstep, outdoor learning and activities play an important role in school life.

An extensive co-curricular programme for boarding and day students takes advantage of St Leonards’ unrivalled location, with opportunities to sign up for everything from sailing to debating, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, cultural exchanges, and a leading three-tier Golf Programme, delivered at the world renowned Links Academy.

In the Sixth Form, students follow the IB Diploma Programme, which has been praised by students, parents and university admissions officers for its focus on deepening learning, offering wider subject options, and enriching minds.

For three years running, St Leonards has been ranked by the Sunday Times Schools Guide as the Top Independent School Sixth Form in Scotland for IB/A Level results. Indeed, 100% of leavers who gained a place at university were offered their first or second choice.
