Tell us a bit about you, how would you describe your profession and what makes you tick…

I’m the founder of The Pink House, an award-winning interiors blog and Instagram account (@Pinkhouseliving) I started more than 4 years ago after many years working as a lifestyle magazine journalist. Last year, my dream of becoming an author came true when my first book, Pink House Living, was published. It’s a light-hearted guide to creating a colourful, personality-filled home that makes YOU happy!

Tell us a bit about your ‘signature interior style’ and where you get your inspiration from?

My style is mainly inspired by my own childhood, colours that fill me with joy, and a general sense of playfulness and not wanting to take life too seriously. I also draw inspiration from hotels, bars and restaurants. After all, when people go out, they want to be entertained.

Has lockdown changed your perception or needs when it comes to designing/ styling your home?

Living in a city as I do, it’s made me aware of how lucky I am to have garden. Over lockdown the Pink House Husband and I constructed a (pink!) pergola in our garden, complete with comfy outdoor sofa, and it’s helped make our stay-home summer holiday that bit more special. I think lockdown has brought to light the importance of a home environment that makes us feel good. Plus, the fact that so many more of us now work from home is another great reason to justify that interior project. In fact, some of it might even be tax-deductible.

Tell us about your partnership with Geberit…

Since I started my partnership with Geberit last year it’s been a real pleasure to share my love of the brand and its innovative products. This year I’m continuing the conversation about ‘breaking the loo taboo’ – in other words, getting people talking about toilets and bathrooms and the importance of giving the littlest room greater prominence in your home for our physical and mental wellbeing. Among other things, I’m working with a local Edinburgh showroom to find out more about how Geberit can help get the very best from your bathroom.

Tell us your favourite product and why you love it?

My favourite Geberit product has to be the AquaClean shower toilet – it’s a gamechanger when it comes to keeping not only its owners, but itself clean! I have the AquaClean Sela in my own recently-built downstairs bathroom and it’s my favourite thing about the whole room.

What would be your top 3 tips for designing a bathroom?

Start with the practicalities – a beautiful bathroom is no use if it doesn’t work properly – and don’t forget to think about how you’ll keep it clean. Secondly, cleverly designed storage is key (and Geberit’s range is exceptionally good for this). Finally, don’t feel constrained by what you think a bathroom ‘should’ look like – Colour, patterned tiles and wallpaper are no harder to clean than a white-on-white look, and bright colours on the walls complement white sanitaryware beautifully.
