“Cramond has experienced very low levels of Covid-19 infection since March,” says Graeme Kelly, the Director of Cramond Residence, “but crucially it has demonstrated that professional infection control and prevention procedures have allowed infections to be contained and eradicated. Experienced management, extensive training, the use of the right equipment and the right procedures, our small-group living approach and the design of the building itself have all played their part and continue to do so.”

The small-group living approach that Graeme highlights brings together the two issues of quality care and safety in a way that benefits all of our residents. The Residence comprises nine individual homes set across three storeys, most with just eight bedrooms. Each home has its own private lounge, dining and snug facilities. This approach allows residents to be cared for in small groups (using self-contained facilities) and significantly reduces the potential for infections to spread. The configuration also makes it easier for us to impose strict quarantining when necessary. In terms of lifestyle, it ensures that residents feel they are part of a community of friends.
