Cargilfield
As we return back to campus after the largest change to school routine since we were evacuated during World War II, we can confirm that Cargilfield is a school that provides the best all-round education, whatever the circumstances. Through a period of remote learning, we prided ourselves on daily contact with teachers and lots of live teaching.
We are now very much looking forward to enjoying again the things we do best and celebrating our new normality:
A prep school?
As a stand-alone junior school, our facilities and skills are focused entirely on younger children and your child will have the chance to enjoy an environment where being a child is still important. Without the presence of older pupils, we limit the forces that require children to grow up faster while fostering qualities of courtesy, self-reliance and assurance. The wide range of schools to which our children move on to means that we are proud of helping you to find the senior school that will best suit your child or your family: whether that’s in Edinburgh or further afield.
Small matters
Cargilfield has extensive grounds and a range of state-of-the-art facilities on a single site. This offers a safe, secure and beautiful location in which to teach young children. As a family school, we welcome a broad range of abilities, but believe that a combination of high expectations with good teaching in small classes (an average class size of about 16 with a maximum of 18) explains our excellent results. As we are not attached to a senior school, children have full use of all facilities without having to make way for older children.
Busy children are happy children!
Our girls and boys are busy! They play sport every day and creative activities such as music, drama, art and design are an important part of our curriculum. After school, evening and weekend activities will quickly return as they are a fundamental part of what we offer and will allow your child to try everything and discover their strengths and what excites them. We offer over 40 clubs during our longer school day – from fencing to fly tying, from drama to debating, from art to archery - with everything in between.
Supporting you and your family
We have all been through a challenging and unsettling time, and as we return to school, the care and support that a school offers will be more important than ever. We are able to care for and nurture the individual while still helping them to set their sights higher. Our longer day and flexible boarding opportunities also mean that we can support the demands of busy families. Cargilfield is a lot more than just a school.
Whatever we face, we know that we can deliver an education which is best in class.
Join us for our Open Morning activities on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd October, or arrange a private visit. We would like you to see what it means to be part of the Cargilfield family.
