Glenalmond
From the very first drive down our Front Avenue, Glenalmond College captivates the heart and a keen sense of pride in this exceptional school is kindled. Set in 300 acres at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, Glenalmond is simply stunning – a hidden gem just an hour’s drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow, offering a healthy, natural environment in which children thrive.
While Glenalmond is exceptionally beautiful, it is when families meet and speak with staff and existing pupils that what sets Glenalmond apart from all others really shines through.
The calibre of the carefully-selected staff underpins our excellent academic track record which this year saw pupils achieve: a 100% pass rate in 24 subjects at A-Level (67% at A*-B); a 100% pass rate in 12 subjects at Higher; and 56% of our pupils achieved A*-A grades in their GCSEs.
Glenalmond’s outstanding standard of teaching was highlighted in a recent Education Scotland report which also commended our “welcoming, friendly and supportive” ethos. This promotes a “sense of respect and kindness across the school community….young people speak very proudly about their school and their many achievements.”
Pupils at Glenalmond are described in the report as “courteous, highly motivated and keen to experience challenge in their learning.”
Almost £2 million pounds of investment has been undertaken at the school over the past two years, including a range of new, state-of-the-art sports facilities. A new Golf Hub with simulation screens has opened as part of our Golf School (with its James Braid-designed nine-hole course). Our sports facilities also include two new all-weather astro surfaces for hockey and tennis, including an Olympic standard, water-based astro turf pitch.
