BALLATER GALLERY

Acclaimed artist Colin Fraser has returned to the Scottish art scene after nearly 14 years, showing his work at the Ballater Gallery. Colin, who mostly shows in London, New York and Toronto, paints still life and landscape using egg tempera, a notoriousl­y difficult medium and it took him nearly a decade to master. FRAMES GALLERY

Frames Gallery’s May exhibition is by renowned wildlife artist, Jonathan Sainsbury. Taking four famous Ladybird books illustrate­d by C.F. Tunnicliff­e as a starting point, Sainsbury reinterpre­ts the illustrati­ons for a contempora­ry audience. He looks at changes in the landscape and farming since 1959, when the books were published. 6 May – 3 June.

Lesley is an establishe­d Glasgowbor­n painter, living on a beautiful farm in the Scottish Borders.
