AMBLE OPEN Seahouses to Lynemouth, Northumber­land, 416 anglers

Winner Sean Crowe won this popular roving event, sponsored by Penn, with 10-7-8, his bag weight consisting of a single cod caught on a cocktail of mussels and worm on a single size 6/0 hook.

Second was Dan Bennett, who caught two codling for 7-7-12, while Jeff Waller was third with a brace for 7-1-12, including a fish of 4lb 2oz. A total of 62 anglers weighed in, with Swindene, near Cullernose Point, the best area for cod and Warkworth showing form for flounders.

Heaviest flatfish was Henry Henderson’s 1lb 11oz flounder at Warkworth. Top lady was Gail Oliver with three flatties for 3-1-4 caught from Warkworth.

Result: 1 Sean Crowe, Scarboroug­h, one cod, 10-7-8, also heaviest fish (40pts); 2 Dan Bennett, Whitby, two cod, 7-7-12 (39); 3 Jeff Waller, Redcar, two cod, 7-1-12 (38).

THE 9TH FELINFOEL BREWERY DOUBLE DRAGON RNLI OPEN Amroth, Pembrokesh­ire, 68 anglers

The winner, who caught three flounders for 1.160kg, was Jeff Stephens, of Bridgend, who collected £250. He also had the biggest flounder at 515g to scoop the £68 pool.

In second was local angler, Andrew Jones, from Kilgetty, who landed two flounders for 885g, to win £75. In third place was another local and one of the organisers, Andrew Skeels, who also caught two flounders for 690g, winning himself £50.

Twenty-two out of the 68 anglers who fished, compared to only 15 out of 78 in 2015, managed to weigh in 26 sizeable fish compared to 21 last year. This was despite the testing conditions, which, though good at the start, deteriorat­ed during the day.

Organised by members from Pembroke & District AC, Osprey SAC and Neyland SAC, the event raised more than £800 for the Angle and Tenby lifeboats.

Result: 1 Jeff Stephens, Bridgend, three flounders, 1.160kg, including heaviest fish, 515g (6pts): 2 Andrew Jones, Kilgetty, two, 0.885kg (5); 3 Andrew Skeels, Pembroke, two, 0.690kg (4).

HORNSEA SAC PAIRS & OPEN

East Yorks, 44 anglers

Individual winner Nick Marshall, of Commercial SAC, weighed in 4kg, and also finished second in the pairs with Kev Hewitt, with a 4.870kg total.

Runner-up Jamie Cross, of the host club, included the heaviest fish, a 1.875kg cod, in his 3.4kg catch taken at Paull.

Pairs winners Dave Jacketts and Aaron Weathersto­ne, of Hornsea SAC, fished at Hornsea and weighed in 5.525kg of whiting.

Result: 1 Nick Marshall, Commercial SAC, 4.00kg (4pts); 2 Jamie Cross, Hornsea SAC, 3.400kg, including heaviest fish, 1.875kg cod (3); 3 Aaron Weathersto­ne, Hornsea SAC, 2.850kg (2). Pairs – Dave Jacketts & Aaron Weathersto­ne, 5.525kg.

HORNSEA SAC MARK LOUDON MEMORIAL OPEN Spurn to Paull, East Yorks, 144 anglers

With overcast skies and driving rain, it would have been easier to stay at home, but match winner Jeff Taylor, a former UKSF caster, scaled the muddy cliffs to fish at Hilston and beached a 3.55kg cod to scoop £300 and a rod.

Runner-up in this six-hour match, fished from low water to high, was Chris Fisher, a Hornsea SAC member from Aldborough, who fished a similar area and, two hours into the match, landed a 3.25kg cod, winning £200.

M Chambers, of Withernsea, was third with a cod of 2.80kg ,winning £100. More than £1,000 was raised for cancer charities.
