AFON SOCH RIVERMOUTH

-

Positioned in the heart of the town, this is best fished either side of low water on the bigger tides by walking the sand out to the tideline. Keep tackle to a minimum and walk back with the tide, keeping your casts to no more than 60 yards. You can fish either side of the river.

This is a prime spot for a big bass from September to late November. It is also good for flounders in autumn and early winter through to mid-January or so. Watch out for weed here after a blow.

Turbot, dabs and dogfish are also caught.

TOP TIP: Fish a whole sandeel on a long flowing fluorocarbon trace for big autumn bass.

BAIT: Crab baits are good for the bass and flounders, as is lug, with razorfish and mackerel strip top in autumn and winter.

BEST TIMES: Either side of low water on bigger spring tides, with darkness better than daylight.

GROUND: Clean sand with small undulating sandbanks further out, but it is constantly changing.
