HOW TO USE FISHING FOAM

-

One of my favourites that never leaves my box is the Glow Stick pop-up fishing foam.

This stuff is great. You buy it in metre lengths and cut the pop-up to the size required. Best of all, it’s cheap and effective. In winter it makes great anti-crab devices and general pop-ups, while in the summer it is the only type of pop-up I will use for garfish. Firstly, use a pair of sharp scissors to cut the pop-up fishing foam to the required length. Then place your hook in the end of the Bonebass pop-up fishing foam. Push the hook in and aim to come out of the side of the foam somewhere in the middle. Now pull your hook and the snood line clear of the small piece of fishing foam. Push hook back into the pop-up a couple of millimetres from where it was pulled out. Push the hook out of the bottom, so you are essentially stitching on the pop-up. This stitching method locks the fishing foam pop-up in place on the snood line. This stitching method also allows you to move the pop-up along the line too.
