DB1 BOAT ROD

-

Why only produce one boat rod? The answer is quite simple, for the bulk of UK boat fishing you actually don’t need anything else. Dave has been using this particular rod for the past 18 months, only switching to a medium/heavy lure rod for the rest of his boat fishing when required.

The DB1 covers all bases. It’s perfect for working lures over wrecks and reefs for cod or pollack, and is equally at home when drifting for turbot and bass, thanks to the first 20 inches of ‘soft’ tip section.

Dave also managed to catch two double-figure bass using the DB1 prototype while float-fishing with it.

The rod comes into its own when uptiding. It can cast 10oz with bait easily, and the soft tip sits really well in the tide. The tip is white specifically for this application, and Dave reckons it’s the perfect winter cod rod.

When it comes to downtiding, he has caught tope to nearly 50lb, conger eels to 60lb-plus and blonde rays to 28lb while testing the DB1. “There’s so much reserve power lower down the blank that you can be confident of landing pretty much anything you hook, while still enjoying the sport from smaller specimens,” said Dave

It comes supplied with a heavy-duty, two-section rod bag.
