This 28lb blonde ray was caught on a bluey and squid bait by Louis Rooke, of Barnstaple, North Devon. The Combe Martin SAC member was fishing aboard Ryan Casey’s Meerkat Charters, out of Weymouth.

Lee Head, of Rosyth, Fife, caught this big ling while fishing from a small boat in Loch Etive. The fish took a big bluey bait.

“We usually take the scales but didn’t have them with us that day. Typical!” said Lee. “But it was certainly heavy.”

A session fishing for flatfish and whiting produced a 3lb 14oz tub gurnard for Ken Ware, while fishing at Dungeness, Kent. The angler, from Upchurch, Kent, fished with a Continental rod and baited up with strips of mackerel.

The fish was caught at low tide, just as Ken and his cousin Stephen Davies were set to go home.
