Ian Youngs, of Loders, Dorset, landed a personal best Allis shad, weighing 2Ib 4oz, while fishing at anchor aboard Colin Penny’s Flamer IV, out of Weymouth, Dorset. The fish was returned alive. Ian's shad is the 18th different species caught on Flamer IV so far in 2017.

Dave Barratt, of Chandlers Ford, Hants, caught this 3lb 12oz plaice during a session at Chesil Beach, Dorset. Fishing black lugworms at range, he caught soles, dogfish, pouting, whiting and rockling.

A chunk of herring was the successful bait for Jason Goodman when he caught this 15lb thornback ray. The angler, from Canvey Island, was fishing in the Thames Estuary aboard Dawn Tide II, skippered by Mark Peters, out of Wallasea Island, Essex.
