AWESOME BATTLE FOR SUPER BLONDE

Matt Gillson caught this stunning 24lb 6oz blonde ray while uptiding at a wreck on the Goodwin Sands on March 7.

The angler from Colchester, Essex, was aboard the charter boat Skerry Belle, skippered by Roger Lennon, out of Ramsgate, Kent.

He fished a running leger rig with 30lb line and size 6/0 hooks baited with a whole squid.

Skipper Roger said: “It was an awesome battle in shallow water just as the tide was easing. The day also accounted for more than 30 thornbacks, most fish including the blonde were released.”
