Are there any advantages to adding stinger hooks, like the ones used by pike anglers, to soft plastics?

HG says: I have thought about trying a stinger hook on a white senko at night especially, mainly because we sometimes get hits from bass that don’t hook up, and I can’t help but wonder whether a stinger hook further towards the rear of the hook really would help much overall.

I don’t use them, though, because I’m not sure we really need yet another hook flying around that ends up hooking either us, or somewhere random on the fish.
