IN THE BAG
Why hasn’t anyone else thought of manufacturing these before?
Great idea for boat engine owners.
FLUSH BAG rrP: £40 Plus P&P
Thoroughly flushing an outboard engine with fresh water after use in saltwater is essential to ensure the long-term, smooth operation of that engine. Consequently, a variety of adaptors have been designed for most engines.
These connect easily to a hosepipe and allow the engine to be run at tick-over speed in order to wash out salt deposits, thus preventing calcification that, in time, will impair or even block the cooling system.
However, most small auxiliary engines are not fitted with an adaptor, so in order to flush these, they usually have to be removed from the boat and placed in a barrel of fresh water before they can be started.
Recently, I was sent a Flush Bag, a piece of equipment that has been designed specifically for flushing small engines. It is absolutely brilliant. Why hasn’t anyone else thought of manufacturing these before?
The picture is self-explanatory in explaining how the Flush Bag works, but basically you first put the leg of the outboard into the bag and secure it using the straps provided. Attach a hosepipe to the standard hose adaptor fitted, allow the bag to fill with water and start the engine. It really is that simple.
The bag is manufactured from an extremely tough and durable, high-visibility PVC fabric and is fitted with several large holes near the top that allow excess water to flow out, thus ensuring the engine is always running in cool water.
As an added bonus, the Flush Bag can also be used as a prop bag for towing.
Cost is a very reasonable £40 plus P&P at cost.
