■ March 6: Flattie Bash, 10.30am-2pm, high tide 2.05pm (five metres). Register 8am-10.30am at Hornsea Floral Hall. Marked boundaries on Hornsea and Mappleton beach. £10 entry.

■ March 7-8: European Open Beach Championhs­ip, 9am-3pm Saturday, high tide at Bridlingto­n is 2.57pm (5.4m), 9am-3pm Sunday, high tide at Bridlingto­n is 3.42pm (5.8m). Boundaries – North end of North Marine Promenade, Bridlingto­n, to Pilot Jetty at Spurn Point (no fishing from piers or man-made constructi­ons).

■ Weigh in is 3pm-4pm both days at Sand le Mere Holiday Village, Southfield Lane, Tunstall, HU12 0JF. There is no fishing within 24 hours prior to match within the competitio­n boundaries, apart from the Flattie Bash’s designated area.

■ EOBC safety rules: Use a minimum 50lb shockleade­r. Dangerous casting prohibited. Allow 10m/12yd distance between competitor­s unless advised by stewards. Beware of rising tides, use access points rather than climbing cliffs and do not trespass on private land. Wear waterproof boots and clothing, and carry a simple first aid kit.

■ Advanced entry: Seniors £20 per day, £30 for both days; juniors £10 and £20. First 500 bookings for two-day tickets get a free goody bag, which is collected at the HQ at Sand le Mere.

■ Entry on day: £25 and £35 and juniors £15 and £25 from EOBC site office at Sand le Mere from noon to 9pm on March 6, and 7am-9am on March 7 and 8. Pairs event (Saturday): £20 extra per team. Fours (Sunday) £20 extra per team.
