Far-flung Cape Verde is not the British traveller's first choice for sun, but the 10-strong volcanic archipelago offers some of the world’s best beaches and almost year-round sun coupled with average temperatures of 27C.
Just a six-hour flight from the UK, direct flights are available from Gatwick, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow, to Sal and Boa Vista.
