Michael Gove moves to DEFRA
Michael Gove (below) has been appointed as the new Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, in an unexpected return to cabinet following a post-general Election reshuffle by Prime Minister Theresa May.
Mr Gove told Sky News he was “surprised and delighted” at his appointment and would work to ensure rural workers are “at the heart of policymaking”. He takes over from Andrea Leadsom, who has been made leader of the House of Commons. Both ran against Mrs May in the Conservative leadership battle last year.
