Buzzards prove to be an unlikely ally

Double Stones Shoot in Yorkshire has found a novel way of solving a difficult problem. The shoot, which is run by keen falconers, discovered a buzzard nesting inside one of its pheasant pens.

Steve Bosacki told Shooting Times: “We are currently feeding the buzzards and finding that healthy, well-fed buzzards are actually keeping other birds of prey, like the kites, away from the area.

“To date we have had no pheasant or grouse kills as we feel they are too content to hunt and the chicks sound more than happy feeding on the free offerings of rabbits and hares.”
