Rebels bubble burst by Dickson’s double

Dartford signing scores twice in six minutes to deflate Slough

- Slough Town FC:

Dartford 2, Slough Town 0

Slough’s form in National League South continued to tail off as the Rebels lost to league leaders Dartford on Saturday. The Darts’ new signing Chris Dickson struck twice in the early stages of the second half to condemn the Rebels to a fourth consecutive loss. It sees the side slip to 17th in the table, just four points above bottom club Bath City.

However, there were noticeable improvements from last Tuesday’s 3-1 home defeat to Hungerford Town and managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood could take some comfort from that.

Afterwards Baker tweeted: “Football is very tough to take at the moment. But you must take the rough with the smooth. We will continue to work hard as a club to turn the current form around.”

Slough made several changes for the trip to

Princes Park, with Mark Nisbet and Guy Hollis coming back in for their first starts of the season.

However, their good defensive work in the first half was undone when they conceded twice in six sloppy minutes at the start of the second half. The Darts broke the deadlock just seconds after the restart when Dickson turned home a cross from Barham from just inside the six-yard box. Dickson was at it again five minutes later when he got on the end of Jack Jebb’s free kick after being left unmarked.

Slough had their chances in both the first and second halves. Josh Jackman fired a volley wide early on and Dan Roberts forced the keeper

Ethan Wady into a fine save just before the interval. They also mustered some efforts on goal after falling behind.

Paul Hodges struck the outside of the near post and Warren Harris poked goalwards after latching onto a long kick from Jack Turner. Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong was shown a straight red card for a late challenge on Lee Togwell but, even with a man advantage, Slough failed to muster many chances.

The closest they came was when Harris headed wide of Wady’s goal.
