Businesses with a royal link gear up to celebrate jubilee

WINDSOR: A mechanic and a florist are businesses in Windsor with royal connection­s preparing to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this weekend.

M&T Engineerin­g, based in Windsor Arches, was awarded Royal Warrant for Vehicle Servicing and Repairs in 2000.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s celebratio­ns, cofounder Ashley Traynor said: “We are incredibly proud to have kept the Royal Warrant for over 22 years.

“As a business, we will of course be paying homage to the Queen.

“We will be decorating our arch with bunting and making the most of the long weekend.

“We are so proud of our special connection to Her Majesty and what she has achieved during her reign – and hope to see many of our loyal customers at the lighting of the beacon, and the Long Walk picnic.”

Furthermor­e, Lavender Green in Bridgewate­r Way also enjoys a royal relationsh­ip, having produced flowers for the Royal

Windsor Horse Show, Royal Ascot, Queens and Wimbledon.

Babs Barnes, head of marketing at Lavender Green said: “We are thrilled to be enjoying our first full summer since COVID restrictio­ns have eased – and Windsor is such a special place to be.

“Now with the jubilee, we are finding demand has rocketed and we are providing flowers for street parties across the town.”

Cllr Samantha Rayner, deputy leader of the council, said: “I am delighted that our fantastic local businesses are taking part in the Platinum Jubilee celebratio­ns in Windsor, the businesses are an important part of our local community.

“The arches are in a central location in the historic and thriving business area and it’s great to see them being so successful.

“Windsor is busy with lots of jubilee activities and celebratio­ns throughout this year to thank Her Majesty the Queen for her 70 years of dedicated service.”
