Eden Girls is again rated ‘Outstanding’
School retains top Ofsted rating
Eden Girls’ School in Slough has retained its ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating following a glowing report from the education watchdog.
Government inspectors visited the school, which is part of Star Academies multi-academy trust, on February 21 and 22.
The report praised the Bath Road school’s exceptional academic achievements, its learning environment, and the attitude and efforts of both staff and students.
The report said: “Pupils are proud and happy to be part of this warm, welcoming school where they excel both academically and personally.”
Eden Girls’ is an Islamic faith school which opened in 2015 and welcomes pupils of all faiths and none.
Since then, it has gone on to achieve outstanding GCSE results, with nearly 50 per cent of its students achieving the English Baccalaureate (which requires GCSE ‘pass’ grades across English, maths, a language, and a science and humanities subject) compared to just 17 per cent of students nationally.
Ofsted’s report, published on March 28, described students’ achievements as exceptional and said they ‘produce high-quality work across all their subjects.’
It praised the ambitious curriculum, expert teaching, and strong educational programmes provided by the school, which created engaged and motivated students.
Commending the schools’ learning environment, the report said: “Pupils are immensely polite, friendly and respectful.
“Behaviour is exemplary in lessons and around the school site.”
The school has established a set of STAR values which are service, teamwork, ambition, and respect, based on the fundamental British values identified by the Department for Education.
Inspectors praised the school’s educational focus on reading, vocabulary and extended writing skills with the ‘star readers challenge’ commended for keeping the school’s library busy.
Equally important was the ambitious goals set for students with special and educational needs (SEND), who achieve as well as other pupils.
Eden Girls’ School’s vision is ‘nurturing today’s young people, inspiring tomorrow’s leaders’, which it achieves through educational excellence, character development, and service to communities.
The report said pupils take part in a range of extra-curricular activities, from recreational clubs to student governance roles including prefects, school council members and enthusiastic charity work.
Eden Girls’ School Principal, Sajid Khaliq, said: “We are proud to receive an outstanding judgement from Ofsted in our second inspection.
“I wish to thank our talented staff who are committed to ensuring our pupils’ learning is engaging, memorable and effective, every single day. The report validates our strong partnership with parents, committed governors, dedicated staff, and inspired pupils and exemplifies the great care, compassion and calm that permeate throughout the school.”
