All full of beans and bounce as trampoline park to open
A TRAMPOLINE megapark is set to open in Bridgend on Saturday – becoming Wales’ largest trampoline attraction to date.
A £1m investment by local company Jump Jam has transformed a former Remploy factory with wall-to-wall trampoline arenas, dodgeball courts, a half-pipe trampoline runway, and even a four-lane climbing wall. It is also creating 40 new jobs. Joint managing director Teresa Payne said: “Following the footsteps of other parks opening around the country and in Wales we’re thrilled to be announcing this state-of-the-art facility on the M4 corridor, which will mean more visitors will be able to see what all the excitement is about for themselves.
“Residents and visitors can expect to defy gravity and create lasting memories with friends and family with our innovative approach to family fun.”
Launched in 2015, Jump Jam is the brainchild of Teresa’s friend, Jim Portsmouth.
The venture was inspired by the pair taking a trip to America, where the families came across a trampoline park.
When they returned to the UK they were dismayed to find that there were no comparable facilities in their local area.
They said the solution was to find a suitable premises and build and open their own.
It helped that between them Teresa and Jim and their families had knowledge of the leisure, entertainment and development industries, having been in business themselves for many years, as well as working for blue-chip companies.
Jump Jam hopes the Bridgend park, which also has a 140-seater café, will be the first of many.
Operations director David Morse said: “Adding a new family-orientated facility to the region is set to attract more people to the area, more families to the park, and more converts to the sport of trampolining.
“It’s a new phenomenon in the UK that’s really begun to take off – not only because it’s fantastic fun, but also because it’s something the whole family can take part in.”
