WEDDINGS ‘I knew I had met the love of my life’

-

The couple: Ed Morris, 39, from Llanelli, and Louise Morris, 36, from Oxfordshire. The couple live in Caerphilly. Ed is a mental health day service support worker at Cardiff council and Louise is an office manager. The venue: The couple were married on June 18 at Caerphilly registry office, followed by a reception at Rudry village hall. How they met: The couple met online in summer 2014, and chatted for a couple of weeks before meeting at the Pear Tree on Albany Road, Cardiff.

They arranged to meet for one drink, but lost track of time talking.

Ed said: “We were chatting about anything and everything so much so, we ended up getting kicked out at closing time.

“I walked Louise back to her car and as we said goodnight, shared our first kiss. I knew straight away I had met the love of my life.

“We dated for a few months and moved in with each other at the end of the year along with Louise’s cat, Kitty, and since then we have been inseparable.” The proposal: The couple discussed marriage after moving in with each other and said they would get engaged the next year, so Ed wanted to ask her at one minute past midnight at a New Year’s Eve party but his plan was scuppered as Louise was unwell.

However, on January 2, they were at a friend’s home, when Ed found the perfect moment to get down on one knee to pop the question to Louise.

Ed said: “She said yes straight away although she was a little shocked.” The wedding: The couple wanted a relaxed theme for their wedding, and said the Rudry village hall was an “absolutely beautiful setting”.

Ed said: “We wanted a relaxed theme and day with our family and friends.”

They booked a hog roast for the day and a cheese board cake with homemade chutneys, as well lots of desserts, which they said were “delicious”.

Louise handmade all of the thank you gifts, wedding favours and centre pieces.

Ed said: “We were so lucky with the weather that day, everything was great, and so many people worked so hard to make it a very special one for us.

“We had Catherine Wiggins as our photographer and her husband Steve to do our evening disco. They were both amazing from start to finish, all our guests commented on how good they both were.” The honeymoon: For their minimoon, the couple travelled to Hayle, Cornwall and Bath straight after the wedding.

For their honeymoon, they hope to go to Iceland to see the northern lights in January, which will also be Ed’s 40th birthday.
