Another baby named Bale after Wales star Gareth
ON NEW Year’s Eve Cardiff City season ticket holder Chris Perry and his partner Tracy named their son Bale Lucius Perry after the Real Madrid and Wales soccer superstar.
But it turns out the football-mad couple are not the only ones to pay tribute to the Welsh star.
Describing himself as a “massive Wales and Cardiff football fan”, Jake Lewis and his partner Misha Pugh also named their son after Gareth Bale.
Baby Bale was born on November 11, 2016 and proud dad, 22-year-old Jake claims he was the first to be named after the player.
“I’ve always followed Cardiff and Wales – since I was a little boy,” Jake from Abercynon said.
“I went to watch Wales and Ireland in the Euros, obviously baby Bale was still in my partner’s belly at that point, but when I came home we started to think seriously about names.
“And believe it or not, Misha came up with the name Bale. Everybody thinks it was my idea because I’m such a huge football fan, but she suggested it.
“Obviously I jumped at the chance and said ‘yes’ straight away.
“I looked up the name and realised that he would be the first to be named after Gareth Bale.”
And it seems baby Bale and the Real Madrid striker have more in common than their names.
“Bale was born on November 11 the same number on Gareth Bale’s shirt” Jake said.
“When my family found out about the name they were all really pleased and supportive. They said ‘trust you to think up a name like that.’ But my family are big football fans too so everyone was really happy.
“Everyone says they hope he turns out like Gareth Bale – playing for Wales or Cardiff, that would be amazing.”
Not ones to stray away from unusual and unique names, Jake and Misha are also parents to three-year-old Brae and Ffinah, who’s 18 months old.
“We tried to look for names that nobody else would have,” said Jake.
“Ffinah is named after my grandmother Josephine, Brae was a surname that we liked and well, you all know what Bale is named after.”
