WEDDINGS A ‘perfect wedding day’ for couple who met on a night out

-

The couple: Kyle Lewis, from Pentre, and Catherine Stone, from Edmondstown. The couple now live in the house that Kyle grew up in, in Pentre. The venue: The wedding took place at Bryngarw House, Bridgend. Catherine said: “It was the first and only venue we viewed after falling in love with it straight away. We got married at 1pm on February 3.” How they met: “We met on New Year’s Day, in 2012, at Fagins, in Ton Pentre,” explained Catherine.

“I was originally out in Pontypridd with a friend, but then she suggested going to Fagins instead.

“I thought he was the best looking person I’d ever seen and I didn’t think he would be interested in me.

“Kyle says the same about me – he still to this day remembers what outfit I had on that night.” The proposal: Kyle surprised Catherine with a trip to New York.

He proposed on December 13 while the couple had a horse and cart ride around Central Park.

Kyle carried the ring around with him for two days while he thought of how he wanted to propose. The wedding: “I decided that I wanted a grey and white colour scheme – something simple and elegant,” said Catherine.

“Kyle is a carpenter and he handmade most things for the wedding such as the card box, wooden wedding sign, cake stand and guest board for people to sign.

“The day was more than perfect for us and we were grateful to have all of our family and friends there to celebrate with us.” The honeymoon: Catherine had a gift off Kyle the night before the wedding – it was a surprise four-day trip to Rome.

He knew how much Catherine had always wanted to go to Italy, and he booked it six weeks earlier without Catherine knowing.
