Store helps fund a new Chapter for film at venue

-

CHAPTER Arts Centre was presented with a cheque for £500 from Leckwith Road Asda to go towards its community and education work.

Chapter has been working with the Leckwith supermarket since June 2016, with the store’s community champion Sarah-Jane Bennett coming into Chapter to volunteer in filmmaking workshops alongside the arts centre’s learning and participation manager Matt Beere.

On top of this partnership with the supermarket, Chapter came first in the in-store green token scheme that ran from October to December 2016, winning £500 to go towards the filmmaking workshops and other education work.

Chapter’s development director Elaina Johnson said: “It has been fantastic having the support from Asda Leckwith Road – Sarah-Jane is passionate about Chapter and the film education work which we are doing.

“She has been a great advocate in raising the profile of the work Chapter does, not only with her colleagues in-store, but with all the customers who visited Asda and voted for Chapter over a three-month period. We are hopeful that this relationship will continue to grow.”

Sarah-Jane added: “As a fantastic local community arts centre – that both our colleagues and customers love – we are proud to support the education workshops at Chapter.

“The passion shown by the Chapter staff is inspiring.”
