Tributes to young dad who died in motorcycle crash

-

A MOTORCYCLIST who died when his bike crashed into a parked car in a Cardiff suburb was a dad of two, police confirmed yesterday.

Leigh Postans, 28, was riding a red Gas Gas motorbike when he was involved in the fatal collision on Llanrumney Avenue just before 1pm on Wednesday.

His devastated relatives yesterday remembered Leigh as a much-loved and much-missed son, brother, father and family member.

A tribute to him, released in a family statement through South Wales Police, said: “Today we have had the most devastating news that our son has sadly passed away following a motorbike accident.

“He is loved, and will be missed very much by all of his family.

“Leigh was a father of two and sadly will not see them grow up.

“His parents, brothers and family would like to grieve in peace whilst they process all that has happened.” The crash happened at around 12.55pm. The parked car – a Ford Fusion – was unattended at the time.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at 1.02pm, and a crew from Roath fire station attended.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said they sent a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, a crew in an ambulance and a “Basics” doctor to the scene. The road was partially closed following the accident.

Terence Borley, director at Willis Systems – a Cardiff company that supplies washrooms – said: “Leigh was a top boy and leaves a massive void at work. All at Willis Systems were devastated with the news.”

Tributes were paid across social media to the 28-year-old.

Daniel Foley said: “RIP Leigh Postans another one taken too soon. He was always a nice lad in school. Thoughts with his family and friends.”

Lynne O’Connor wrote on Facebook: “Devastating news, thoughts and prayers are with you. RIP Leigh you were truly loved by all your family and will be missed.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Eastern Roads Policing Unit, via 101, reference 1700069135.
