There has never been a better time for businesses to recruit an apprentice

-

AS we celebrate Apprenticeship Week, the Welsh Government wants to encourage employers of all sizes across Wales to find out more about apprenticeships and understand how they can positively impact on business productivity.

It’s never been easier to recruit an apprentice and businesses are continually supported. The first stage is to identify a relevant apprenticeship framework aligned to your business needs – visit the Business Wales Skills Gateway website for more information and a provision list.

Where there is the need for additional apprenticeship training requirements, employers can work with the Welsh Government to develop an apprenticeship framework that meets their needs.

Employers will be matched to a local training provider who will offer advice and support.

Apprenticeship vacancies can be advertised on Careers Wales’ Apprenticeship Matching Service. This is free to use and enables employers to quickly identify applicants with the right skills, experience and qualifications.

While the employer is responsible for paying the apprentice’s wage, the Welsh Government covers most of the training costs – with support from the European Social Fund. The training provider will handle the apprentice’s training, qualification and assessment process.
