Singleton sets up his own dating site

-

UNLUCKY in love Shed Simove has been single for too long.

Having had no joy with dating apps like Tinder and Bumble, the 46-yearold from Cardiff decided new tactics were needed.

So he’s built his own dating site, called Shinder – where he is the only man available.

“I had tried creative things like putting really good photos up and putting a logo on my Bumble profile saying ‘Bumble pick of the month,’” said Shed.

“But these things didn’t work so I thought, ‘How can I change the game?’

“I decided that instead of me being the one chasing, I would like to be the one being chased.

“I thought I was in a market where I was just one fish in a pond. So why not create a pond where I was the only fish?

“Mad Magazine used to have the strapline, ‘Number one in a field of one.’ Now I am number one in a field of one.”

Shed – real name Sheridan – who bills himself as a performer, entrepreneur and author, spent nine months and thousands of pounds developing the site.

“I had to build it from the ground up,” the entrepreneur and comic said.

“When you enter the site there is only one profile to swipe on.

“If a man swipes right it says, ‘I’m sorry Shed is currently heterosexual.’”

Women who swipe left on the inventor – or are swiped left by him – will be shown no more men ready for romance.

They will also be greeted with a message about “dodging a bullet”. Shed is a self-proclaimed “high maintenance” date.

They’ll also get the option to sign up to Shed’s mailing list.

Women who swipe right are greeted with a message telling them they “clearly have exquisite taste”.

“It’s been amazing, I’ve had loads of matches I’m sorting through,” Shed said.

“I sort of feel like the luckiest man alive. I’ve got a busy few weeks ahead.”

He admitted he loved dating and hoped to meet his “Shinderella”.

“My friends and family say, ‘Shed, what have you done?’ but I like doing things that have never been done before,” he said.

“If I do find my Shinderella she will probably want me to take the site down but I’ll leave it up in the meantime.

“I’m looking forward to going on some dates.”

Despite living in London Shed is hoping to bag himself a Welsh woman.

“I love Cardiff girls because that’s where I’m from,” the 46-year-old said. “I would invite them up to London.” He insisted he was “a good date.” “Anyone swiping right on Shinder can be guaranteed a fabulous evening,” Shed said.

“You need two or three stages to a date – cocktails, dinner and then a club perhaps. You need to keep things moving.”
