YOURS Weekend of wonder for woodwork
THE biggest free woodworking event in South Wales will provide a “cave of wonders” for all woodworkers – whether trade, DIYers, hobbyists or craft specialists.
Top professionals and staff experts will demonstrate the latest power tools, machines and hand tools from a range of more than 10,000 products on offer at Axminster Tools and Machinery’s Cardiff store in the Valegate Retail Park.
Store manager Lee Parfitt said the free event on Saturday, March 11, and Sunday, March 12, will be “like nothing seen before” in South Wales.
He said: “Almost all visitors to the store have a ‘wow’ experience and tell us they are overwhelmed by the sheer choice of tools and machinery we have all under one roof.
“Our Big Woodworking Weekend will highlight our fantastic array of products and our promise ‘never to be beaten on price for professional power tools.’”
Topping the bill is professional woodturner Nick Agar, who has become one of the most sought-after demonstrators on the international woodturning stage. Nick specialises in surface enhancement and his awardwinning work incorporates carving, airbrushing, ceramic and metal effects. His work has been featured on BBC and ITV lifestyle programmes and his clients include the Prince of Wales and the royal jewellers, Aspreys.
The British Association of Woodcarvers (Welsh team) return to the store to showcase their exceptional talents and to offer guidance and advice to those interested in starting this absorbing creative hobby.
Visitors will be able to get hands-on with leading power tool brands including Bosch, DeWalt, Festool, Fein and Mirka as professional demonstrators put these machines through their paces. Advice and guidance on finishing products, abrasives, sharpening techniques, dust extraction systems – and almost any other topic of woodworking interest – will be available from trade specialists supported by the Cardiff sales team.
“This is a rare opportunity to see the very best of the tools, machines, accessories and consumables available to today’s woodworker,” said Lee.
“We’ll have some great deals over the weekend so we’d urge visitors to get in early. There’s plenty of parking, free tea and coffee and we’ll have a number of goody bags to give away.”
