Jack amazed by donations

-

FUNDS donated to a campaign to help brain tumour victim Jack Donovan have tripled since our story about his illness.

Recently we revealed the 28-yearold’s world was blown apart when he was told his incurable illness could kill him within seven years.

His girlfriend Amy Prothero set up a My Cause page to help him and now AU$2,155 has been raised, almost half of the target of AU$5,000 – just over £3,785.

“The fund had been up to about AU$700 but it doubled in about 24 hours and in another 24 hours it had gone up again,” Jack said.

Jack, from Cyncoed, would like to go diving, ride Route 66 on a HarleyDavidson, and learn to be a barista, as he and Amy are obsessed with coffee.

But he has to do these things quickly.

A group of pals has already donated a course for him to become a barista.

Jack’s condition was only diagnosed after repeated visits to hospital. Doctors kept sending him back to his Melbourne home, telling him there was nothing wrong with him.

After Amy, from Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, found him curled up in agony in their darkened bathroom, they finally discovered the cancer.

The 25-year-old noticed the spike in their funds before Jack. She said: “It’s been absolutely amazing. “I was surprised at how many people we did not really know who had donated.”
