Public Voice support for singer Jamie

-

SUPPORT for Cardiff singer Jamie Miller is building as he prepares to appear in this weekend’s quarter-finals of ITV’s The Voice.

Jamie appealed to his Facebook fans to vote for him as the competition enters its final stages.

The competition was stepped up after each judge selected their team favourites to take through to the final rounds.

But, during a busy week of rehearsals, the 12 acts still managed to find time to pose for some smiley shots before hitting the stage tonight.

Remaining singers on Sir Tom Jones’ team include Into The Ark, Nadine McGhee and Craig Ward, while Jamie joins Mo Adeniran and Jack Bruley performing from Jennifer Hudson’s team.

Meanwhile, Will.i.am will take Tanya Lacey, Michelle John and Jason Jones through, while Gavin Rossdale will present Truly Ford, Sarah Morgan and Max Vickers.

Jamie wrote on the social media site: “I really hope I make it through to the semifinals, feel like I’m just getting started! Hopefully I have all your votes!”

He clearly has good reason to be hopeful. Since he posted the status he has had an outpour of support from the public – most of whom live in Wales.

Mari-Louise Hughes commented: “You will be awesome as always handsome boy, just have faith in yourself, you have the dedication and the talent to do this.”

Sandra Edwards echoed this saying: “You’ve got my vote and I can’t wait to hear you sing. Good luck Jamie, you can do it.”

The vast majority of comments came from female fans, with many nailing their colours to Team Jamie. “TEAM JAMIE is ready xxx We are all behind you,” said Kelly Ann Yorath.

Jamie, who last performed Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You, and Adeniran, who sang Beyonce’s Freedom, had their spaces on coach Hudson’s team saved by the public vote.

While waiting for the quarters he has been keeping busy. Last week he visited severely ill young patients at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales.

Patients and parents were shocked when he walked into the hospital’s play room last Thursday.

The 19-year-old performed versions of Adele hit One and Only and Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah before posing for pictures.

The former Corpus Christi High School pupil said at the event the past few weeks have been the most incredible of his life.

He also spoke about the other contestants, saying: “We have become so close that I don’t think we see each as competition. Everyone is so talented.”

Despite being himself a Welsh singer, Jamie didn’t end up on the same team as the legendary Sir Tom. He was instead selected by Rossdale and Hudson, but the singer ultimately chose to side with Hudson.

Last weekend’s knockout rounds proved a tense moment for the judges, with Rossdale telling presenter Emma Willis that he was “more nervous than ever”, while Will.i.am kept the audience waiting until the last second before revealing his choice.

The Voice UK continues on ITV tonight at 8.30pm.
