BABIES Cruz’s name secret until he was born

-

Baby’s name: Cruz Robert Daniels. Date and place of birth: January 22 at 11.59pm at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. Weight: 9lb 13oz. Parents: Dalia Williams, a mental health nurse, 27, and Greg Daniels, a business analyst, 26, from Penygraig in the Rhondda Valley. Mum’s story: “Overall it was a good pregnancy but it was the birth that was the tough part.

“I went through all the contractions of a labour but then ended up having a C-section.

“I was back and forth from the hospital from the Thursday with early stages of labour and I was induced on the Sunday at 6am and then I had him at 11.59pm through an emergency C-section. It was all very painful.

“Cruz was born 12 days over his due date, which is the maximum that you can go so that’s when he had to be delivered.

“When he was born he was 9lb 13oz so good job it was a C-section.

“He’s a very happy baby – he’s always very content too.

“He sleeps right through the night as well – I think we’ve been pretty lucky overall.

“I didn’t have morning sickness at any point and the only craving I had was for peanut butter, but I don’t really eat it now.

“It’s not very exciting but the pregnancy was quite smooth.

“Picking the name for him was very easy. I’m from Mexico and I was adopted by my two parents at the age of four.

“Cruz means cross in Spanish too and we’d planned that name all along really.

“We found out we were having a boy at around 16 weeks and we were both over the moon.

“Although we planned the name, we did keep it a secret until he was born. Picking it was a very easy decision to make.

“Life has changed since he came along but for the better. We don’t really remember life before him.”
